Zakat on Gold Calculator

Enter your gold in grams or tola and set today's price. The calculator first checks the nisab (87.48 grams), then shows the 2.5% Zakat both as money and as a weight of gold.

Enter today's market price yourself — the prefilled figure is an example, not a live rate.

Weight in grams

100 g

Total value

Rs 2,000,000

Zakat (2.5%)

Rs 50,000

Your gold reaches the nisab (87.48 g = 7.5 tola), so Zakat is due. Instead of cash you may give gold itself: 2.5 g.

The method is simple

One tola is 11.664 grams, so the nisab of seven and a half tola is 87.48 grams. Multiply the weight by today's per-gram price for the total value; one-fortieth of it — 2.5% — is your Zakat. For the full picture, including cash and silver, use the main Zakat calculator, and read the nisab guide for the background.

Frequently asked questions

How much gold makes Zakat obligatory?+

The nisab for gold in Fiqh-e-Hanafi is 87.48 grams — seven and a half tola. Own at least that much for a full lunar year and Zakat is due on all of it; own less (and nothing else that combines to a nisab) and Zakat is not due on the gold alone.

How much Zakat is due on 100 grams of gold?+

Zakat is 2.5% of the gold's current value. At Rs 20,000 per gram, 100 grams are worth Rs 2,000,000 and the Zakat is Rs 50,000 — or, in gold itself, 2.5 grams.

Is Zakat due on gold jewellery I wear?+

Yes — in Fiqh-e-Hanafi, gold owned by a woman is zakatable whether it is jewellery in daily use, stored jewellery, coins or bars, as long as it reaches the nisab. This is a point where the Hanafi school is well known for its position.

Can I pay the Zakat in gold instead of cash?+

Yes. Zakat on gold may be paid as 2.5% of the gold's value in cash, or as 2.5% of the gold itself by weight. The calculator shows both figures.

My gold is below the nisab but I also have cash. What then?+

Assets combine. If your gold, cash, silver and trade goods together reach the nisab (valued in rupees), Zakat is due on the total. Use the main Zakat calculator, which adds everything together before the nisab check.
